Action-Reminiscence-Transpositions,
1980
A
latex cover mounted on a wooden frame containing the single copy of a handmade
book with text, photographs and a pencil drawing on glossy paper, incorporated
in a structure made of film, Plexiglas and painted latex; height 43x34x5cm
The
title of the book-object Action-Reminiscence-Transpositions comes
from a performance they had presented at the Desmos Art Gallery in 1980,
carrying on their work bodily expression combined with multiple media (music,
construction, latex specially processed by N. Zouboulis into a sturdy enough
form for their purposes, sound and light effects, etc.), through which
they had developed in Greece since 1972 the idea of the co-operation of
the arts and collective work. |

The
Story of a Quadrangle, 2000
drawings
by D. Tragas, text by Alexis Bakopoulos, Professor of Mathematics at the
Athens Technical University, Patakis Publications, © Dimitris Tragas,
Athens 2000
The
edition comprises part of the artist’s numerous drawings-poems which span
the years 1990-2000. They constitute self-standing works as well as a starting
point for exploring the use of visual language as writing in space, by
which "any kind of form divides [the notion of the work] into existence
and space", thus alluding to Pascal’s idea that "space is a sphere whose
centre is everywhere and its periphery nowhere" (excerpts from D. Tragas’s
Notebooks, 1990-2000). |
