Michalis
Arfaras
Born
in Athens in 1954. From 1974 he continued his studies at the HBK Braunschweig
and settled in Germany. Specialised in engraving and the art of books and
worked in animated films and experimental cinema. His work stands out for
the skilful combinations of the entire range of image reproduction techniques,
from the traditional to state-of-the-art technologies. Lives and works
in Hildesheim.

Nur ein Märchen,
1979 (9/30)
This
book was made in the summer of 1979 with text by Michalis Arfaras and printed
in 30 copies on Janson-Antiqua handmade paper using manual presses at the
HBK in Braunschweig. Typography and typesetting by J. Köln. The illustrations
–copperplates, wood cuts, photographic clichés, and silk screens–
were made by J. Köln and Michalis Arfaras especially for this edition. |

This
book was made in 1980 on the basis of the fairy tale by Manolis Kornilios,
translated from Greek and adapted in German by Kati Mahrt and Michalis
Arfaras. Typography and typesetting by Kati Mahrt and Michalis Arfaras.
Illustrated with copperplates, offset, zinc lithographs, and silk screens
by Kati Mahrt and Michalis Arfaras. Printed in 30 copies using manual presses
at the Braunschweig School of Fine Arts. |

Pandelis
Chandris
Born
in Athens in 1963. Received the Award of the G&Z Spyropoulos Foundation
in 1992. His work deals with the correlation between natural and intellectual
space and the linking of nature with civilization, adopting multiple media
and methods of writing. Lives and works in Athens.
